Wanna know something that really irritates me? When you go to work in an Internet cafe and the person actually working in there insists on blasting whatever kinda of music they're into. Such is the case with me right now. I'm trying to come up with something witty to say about the new Drive frame and the guy working the counter (whom I genuinely like) is a huge Beastie Boys fan.
I hate the Beastie Boys. They've spent a lifetime making music videos where the three of them are collectively walking towards the camera making silly hand gestures. And their music, well, if you could call it music, is horse crap. Has anyone ever learned anything pertinent to life from a Beastie Boys song? Heck no. It's non-sensical. I mean, I do admire the fact that a Buddhist monk can get by in life screaming about egg rolls and how they take their coffee, but please, there's got to be more out there, right?
The folks at Drive realized this, and produced a new frame that's not of the cookie-cutter BMX frame persuasion. (Great segue, huh?) On first inspection, the Drive frame looks completely different from everything currently available on the market. This could be the unique gussets, the unique paint job, or the fact that it comes stock with a sticker sheet that boasts 29 stickers for each would-be consumer to customize the look of their Drive frame.
If you're attentive to details, you'll want to know that the Drive frame is 100% chromoly, and heat-treated for strength after welding. It features removable gyro tabs, brake mounts on the seat stays, a Mid B/B, internal headset, and a one piece bottom bracket guard/wishbone/chainstay support that protects the B/B shell and stiffens the rear end. The weight is 5.6 pounds. It's available in three top tube sizes (20, 20.5, 21) and features a chainstay length of 13.75-14.25 inches.
If you're looking for more info on the Drive frame, or any of Drive's components, check out http://www.drivebmx.com, and if you like the Beastie Boys and wanna fight me, I'm usually at Johnny Brendas (johnnybrendas) at the corner of Girard and Frankford in North Philly after 11PM during the week. Man, that's a lot of prepositions.....
